Supplement Request Generator works on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. The Microsoft .Net Framework required to run the software should be on most computers. If not you can download it from Microsoft’s website for free. Once you pay for the software you will get an email with a link to the download. If you don’t receive the email, check your spam folder. When you click the “Buy Now” button you will go to the PayPal website. You don’t need a PayPal account. If you do have an account you just sign in. If not, on the lower left part of the page click the “continue” link and you will be brought to a page where you can use a credit card without joining PayPal.

After installing the software and running it for the first time you will have to tell it where to find your EMS files. Click the button that says “Browse to EMS folder.” You may have to call your estimating system’s support line to find out the folder path if you don’t know it already. Pathways users can usually find it at C:\Pathways\Data\Extcomm\Emsout\. If you are on a network the drive letter will probably be different.

Once the software has found your EMS files, the list in the upper left corner will fill with extracted estimates if there are any in the folder. If you have never cleaned out the folder there may be too may estimates and it will take forever to fill the list, making it seem as if the software has crashed. If this happens, close Supplement Request Generator, delete the files in your EMS folder and extract the estimate you need the supplement request for. Then restart the software and the estimate will appear in the list. Click the customer’s name, check the desired options, fill in the desired information and click either the Print to Fax button or the Email button. The email button will open your default email software on your computer and attach to it a PDF copy of your request form. Simply enter the email address for the supplement request and click send.

An important note: Supplement Request Generator will only import information that you’ve included in your estimate. So if you have not added the insurance company name and the adjuster or appraiser’s name, they will not be imported.
